#1 New York Times bestselling author Johanna Lindsay presents
a powerfully romantic Regency-era tale that is breathtaking in scope
and wondrously passionate.
When Sebastian Townshend, son of the eighth Earl of Edgewood, was banished from his family due to the tragic results of a duel, he vowed never to return to England. Now living on the continent, Sebastian has forged a new identity as a deadly mercenary, The Raven. But his former neighbor, Lady Margaret Landor, has different plans for him. Back in England, Sebastian's father has had several accidents and Margaret suspects foul play and deception that reach as far back as the infamous duel. Convinced that only Sebastian can set the situation to rights, Margaret arranges a scandalous bargain with him that includes Sebastian's returning home as her husband. As the newlyweds uncover a deadly scheme, a fierce passion blossoms between them, which neither anticipated -- and neither can resist.

Editorial Reviews:
From Anna Quindlen, acclaimed author of Blessings, Black and Blue, and One True Thing, a superb novel about two sisters, the true meaning of success, and the qualities in life that matter most.
It’s an otherwise ordinary Monday when Meghan Fitzmaurice’s perfect life hits a wall. A household name as the host of Rise and Shine, the country’s highest-rated morning talk show, Meghan cuts to a commercial break–but not before she mutters two forbidden words into her open mike.
In an instant, it’s the end of an era, not only for Meghan, who is unaccustomed to dealing with adversity, but also for her younger sister, Bridget, a social worker in the Bronx who has always lived in Meghan’s long shadow. The effect of Meghan’s on-air truth telling reverberates through both their lives, affecting Meghan’s son, husband, friends, and fans, as well as Bridget’s perception of her sister, their complex childhood, and herself. What follows is a story about how, in very different ways, the Fitzmaurice women adapt, survive, and manage to bring the whole teeming world of New York to heel by dint of their smart mouths, quick wits, and the powerful connection between them that even the worst tragedy cannot shatter.

Spotlight customer reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Only okay Comment: While this book was well written, I could barely make it through. For one thing, I liked Bridget but couldn't stand Meghan. Basically, a lot happens early on and then nothing for a while. The ending was nice and tidy but so expected.
Customer Rating: Summary: Book Club Selection for July Comment: Great book. Our Book Club selected for a light summer read. I was not familiar with the title or the author but went along with the group. It is an easy, quick read and very, very enjoyable and thought provoking. It is hard to put down.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent service Comment: The book arrived on time and in good condition. I was very happy to receive it, as I was anxious to get starting on reading this recommended author.
Customer Rating: Summary: Rise and Shine Comment: I am not sure if I am supposed to feel sorry or hate Meghan. Am I supposed to be sorry that she is a millionaire several times over and feels closed in by her self made life? If that is the case then I hate her.
I do not recommend this book and I was shocked that someone would acutally publish it. It was full of whine, whine, whine.
Customer Rating: Summary: Unoriginal Comment: This book is so unoriginal....and the disaster that you think you're going to be reading about is really a shallow breakdown over a not so catastrophic event. I do like Quindlen, and I am giving this atleast two stars because her characters are well developed and likeable, and you do care about them. It's a feel good book, but to be honest we've all been there- done that with this type of story...it's nothing new. I wish it had more depth to it, and more originality. It's not terrible- again- but that's because Quindlen is a good writer and makes her characters interesting. It's not her best work, and I think an easily spit out novel for her.
